Is my GRE score important in my MS admission?

The utility and the emphasis laid on an applicant’s GRE score vary greatly from school to school, department to department and even from program to program. Arts and humanities may consider your GRE verbal score more important than your quantitative score whereas STEM (science, engineering technology and mathematics) programs may focus mainly on your quant score. It is also quite possible that certain schools can take into account your consolidated GRE score.

GRE is certainly one of the many parameters such as SOP, LOR, ECA, CCA etc. The cumulative weight age of all these parameters will decide whether you will get and admission or not. Though GRE test scores are not the only factor that decides your admission they certainly influence the funding decisions of most schools. Graduate schools normally publish the required GRE cut off‘s in their websites.
